Krzemionki in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Poland, is a remarkable archaeological site known primarily for its prehistoric flint mines. Dating back to the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, these mines were in operation approximately 3,900–1,600 BCE. The site encompasses a complex network of over 4,000 mining shafts and pits, along with well-preserved underground tunnels. The flint extracted from Krzemionki was highly valued for tool-making and was widely traded across Europe. In 2019, Krzemionki was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its outstanding historical and cultural significance.
