La Quemada is an archaeological site located in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. Believed to have been inhabited between 300 and 1200 AD, the site is noted for its impressive ruins, which include a large pyramid, a ball court, and several terraces built into the hillside. The exact purpose and the people who built La Quemada remain subjects of debate among archaeologists, with theories suggesting it may have been a fortress, a ceremonial center, or a trading post.
