La Specola, located in Padua, Italy, is an astronomical observatory housed in a medieval tower that was originally part of the Carrara family's castle. The tower, known as the Torlonga, was transformed into an observatory in 1767 under the direction of the Venetian Republic. It became a significant center for astronomical research and education, contributing to numerous scientific advancements during the 18th and 19th centuries.
