Lamanai is one of Belize's most impressive archaeological sites, known for its rich history and stunning setting amid the jungle. This ancient Maya city, whose name means "Submerged Crocodile," spans over 3,000 years of continuous occupation, making it one of the longest-occupied Maya sites. Key features include the High Temple, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest and the New River Lagoon, and the Mask Temple, adorned with intricate stone carvings. Lamanai also boasts a well-preserved ball court and numerous stelae.
