Its architecture features a striking blend of medieval and later additions, with notable structures such as the 12th-century keep, the 14th-century gatehouse, and the 15th-century Witches' Tower. The castle is famously associated with the Pendle witch trials of 1612, one of the most famous witchcraft trials in English history.
