Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Mahiyangana, Sri Lanka. It is considered one of the oldest and most significant Buddhist sites in the country. According to historical records, the temple marks the location where the Buddha is said to have visited during his first visit to Sri Lanka. The vihara houses a revered stupa that enshrines a sacred relic, believed to be a lock of the Buddha's hair. The temple attracts numerous pilgrims and tourists, especially during the annual Duruthu Perahera festival, which celebrates the Buddha's visit.
