Maison Carrée in Nîmes, France, is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman temples in the world. Constructed around 16 BC during the early years of the Roman Empire, it was dedicated to Gaius and Lucius Caesar, the grandsons and adopted heirs of Emperor Augustus. The temple's architectural style is a prime example of Vitruvian principles, characterized by its classical design with a deep portico, Corinthian columns, and a high podium. Over the centuries, the building has been repurposed for various uses, including as a church, town hall, and archive, which has contributed to its remarkable state of preservation.
