Malpelo Island, located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, is a remote and uninhabited island belonging to Colombia. It is renowned for its rugged terrain, characterized by steep cliffs rising sharply from the ocean, and is part of the Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island and its surrounding waters are a biodiversity hotspot, particularly famous among divers for the large congregations of hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, and other marine life.
