Margat, also known as Marqab, is a significant historical fortress located near Baniyas in Syria. It stands as one of the largest and most well-preserved Crusader castles in the region. Built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 12th century, Margat boasts impressive fortifications, including thick walls and a commanding position on a hilltop that offers strategic views of the surrounding area. The castle played a crucial role during the Crusades, serving as a stronghold against various military campaigns.
