Marostica is a charming town located in the Veneto region of northern Italy, renowned for its stunning medieval architecture and rich cultural heritage. One of its most iconic features is the Castello di Marostica, consisting of two castles, the Upper Castle (Castello Superiore) and the Lower Castle (Castello Inferiore), connected by a well-preserved wall. The town's main square, Piazza Castello, hosts a unique event called the "Living Chess Game," held biennially in September, where townspeople dress in historical costumes and re-enact a life-sized chess game to commemorate a legendary 15th-century duel for the hand of a noblewoman. Marostica is also famous for its cherry production, and visitors can enjoy various cherry-related products and the annual cherry festival.
