The Mausoleum of Theodoric in Ravenna, Italy, is a striking monument dating back to the early 6th century. Built by Theodoric the Great, the king of the Ostrogoths, this mausoleum is unique due to its construction entirely from stone, a departure from the typical brick structures of the time. Its most notable feature is the massive monolithic dome, made from a single piece of Istrian limestone, weighing approximately 230 tons. The structure is divided into two decagonal stories, with the lower level originally serving as a chapel and the upper level housing the sarcophagus of Theodoric.
