Monte Albán is an ancient archaeological site located in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. It was one of the earliest cities in Mesoamerica and served as the political and cultural center of the Zapotec civilization from approximately 500 BCE to 800 CE. The site is situated on a large, artificially leveled hilltop and features impressive architectural structures such as pyramids, temples, and palaces, as well as intricate carvings and hieroglyphic inscriptions.
