Monte Cassino is a historic hilltop abbey located in Cassino, Italy. Founded around 529 AD by Saint Benedict of Nursia, it is considered one of the most significant monasteries in Western Christianity. The abbey has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history, including during World War II when it was the site of a major battle and suffered extensive damage.
