Completed in 1363 during the reign of Sultan Hasan, the complex is noted for its grand scale and intricate design. It encompasses a mosque, a madrasa (Islamic school), a mausoleum, and various facilities. The structure's monumental size, soaring minarets, and ornate decorations reflect the architectural and artistic achievements of the Mamluk period. The mosque's central courtyard, surrounded by four iwans, each dedicated to different Islamic legal schools, exemplifies the design's educational purpose.
