Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal Arafat, is a granitic hill located about 20 kilometers southeast of Mecca in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. It holds significant religious importance in Islam, especially during the Hajj pilgrimage. On the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the Islamic month of pilgrimage, millions of pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat to perform the pivotal Hajj ritual known as the "Standing (Wuquf) at Arafat," which involves spending the afternoon in prayer and reflection. This act commemorates the Prophet Muhammad's Farewell Sermon and is considered a day of forgiveness and mercy.
