Muhudu Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Pottuvil, on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka. It is believed to have been established over 2,000 years ago during the reign of King Kavan Tissa. The site is renowned for its historical and archaeological significance, featuring ruins of ancient stupas, statues, and inscriptions. Legends suggest that this is the landing site of Princess Viharamaha Devi, who was sent adrift as a sacrifice to the sea gods and eventually arrived at this location.
