The fort is situated on the banks of the Neelum River, providing a strategic vantage point that was ideal for defense purposes. Constructed in the late 16th century during the reign of the Chak rulers, the fort has witnessed numerous historical events and has undergone various renovations and restorations over the years. Its architectural style reflects a blend of Kashmiri, Mughal, and local influences, with imposing walls, bastions, and intricate carvings.
