Nan Madol, located in the Federated States of Micronesia, is an ancient city built on a series of artificial islets linked by a network of canals. Situated off the southeastern coast of Pohnpei, the site is often referred to as the "Venice of the Pacific" due to its unique construction and layout. The city served as the ceremonial and political center of the Saudeleur Dynasty, which ruled the island from approximately 1200 to 1500 AD. Nan Madol's impressive ruins include massive stone walls, tombs, and residences, showcasing sophisticated engineering techniques without the use of mortar.
