Palais Idéal in Hauterives, France, is an extraordinary example of naïve art architecture built by Ferdinand Cheval, a rural postman, over a period of 33 years from 1879 to 1912. Inspired by the diverse and fantastical images in his mind, Cheval collected stones during his daily mail route and painstakingly constructed the palace using a mix of concrete, lime, and wire. The structure features an eclectic mix of styles, including elements reminiscent of Hindu temples, medieval castles, and Baroque grottos, making it a unique and whimsical monument.
