Paro Taktsang, also known as the "Tiger's Nest Monastery," is one of Bhutan's most iconic and revered sites. Perched on a cliffside at an altitude of 3,120 meters (10,240 feet) above sea level, it overlooks the Paro Valley. The monastery was built in 1692 around a cave where it is believed that Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated in the 8th century, having flown to the site on the back of a tigress, thus giving it its name. Paro Taktsang is a significant pilgrimage site for Buddhists and a popular attraction for tourists, offering breathtaking views and a sense of spiritual tranquility.
