Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka is a sanctuary dedicated to the care and protection of orphaned, injured, and abandoned elephants. Established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation, the orphanage is located in the village of Pinnawala, near Kegalle. It provides a safe haven for these majestic animals, offering food, medical care, and a semi-natural environment where they can thrive.
