Plavecký hrad, also known as Plavecký Castle, is a historic ruin located near the village of Plavecké Podhradie in Slovakia. The castle dates back to the 13th century and was originally constructed as a defensive fortress to guard the western borders of the Kingdom of Hungary. Over the centuries, it played a significant role in regional conflicts and underwent various modifications. Perched on a hill, the castle offers impressive views of the surrounding landscape, including the Little Carpathians mountain range. Despite being in ruins, the remnants of the castle walls, towers, and other structures provide a glimpse into its storied past. Plavecký hrad is a popular destination for hikers and history enthusiasts, who often combine their visit with a hike through the scenic trails of the surrounding natural area.
