Pokajnica Monastery

Pokajnica Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the vicinity of Velika Plana, Serbia. Built during the early 19th century, it is a significant cultural and historical site. The monastery was constructed by Vujica Vulićević, a prominent figure in the First Serbian Uprising, as an act of penance—hence the name "Pokajnica," which translates to "Repentance." The wooden church within the monastery complex is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and is noted for its traditional Serbian architecture and serene surroundings.
