Pont Saint-Bénézet, also known as the Pont d'Avignon, is a famous medieval bridge that spans the Rhône River in Avignon, France. Constructed between 1177 and 1185, the bridge originally consisted of 22 arches, although only four remain today. The bridge is named after Saint Bénézet, a young shepherd who, according to legend, was divinely inspired to build the bridge. The Pont Saint-Bénézet is renowned not just for its historical significance but also for its association with the popular French song "Sur le Pont d'Avignon.
