The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen, United Kingdom, is an engineering marvel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Completed in 1805, it was designed by Thomas Telford and William Jessop to carry the Llangollen Canal over the River Dee. The aqueduct spans 307 meters (1,007 feet) with 19 arches, each with a 45-foot (14-meter) span, and is made of cast iron and local stone. At a height of 38 meters (126 feet) above the river, it remains the highest canal aqueduct in the world.
