Porolissum was an ancient Roman city located near the modern town of Zalău in Romania. Established in 106 AD during Emperor Trajan's Dacian Wars, Porolissum served as a military base and later evolved into a thriving civilian settlement. It was a strategic point along the limes, the frontier boundary of the Roman Empire in Dacia. The site includes well-preserved ruins such as a Roman amphitheater, various temples, gates, and defensive walls. Porolissum provides valuable insights into Roman military architecture and the daily life of its inhabitants.
