Rhyolite is a fascinating ghost town located in the Bullfrog Hills of Nye County, Nevada, USA. Established in 1905 during the gold rush, it quickly grew to a bustling community with a population of around 5,000 at its peak. The town boasted amenities such as an opera house, a hospital, banks, and a stock exchange. However, the prosperity was short-lived; by 1911, the mines started to decline, and by 1916, Rhyolite was largely abandoned. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this once-thriving town, including the iconic Bottle House and the ruins of the three-story Cook Bank building.
