Ridi Viharaya, also known as the Silver Temple, is a significant Buddhist temple located in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. This ancient temple, which dates back to the 2nd century BC, was initially built during the reign of King Dutugemunu. The temple is renowned for its historical and architectural value, featuring intricate carvings, ancient frescoes, and significant Buddhist relics. The name "Ridi Viharaya" translates to "Silver Temple," which is derived from the legend that silver ore was discovered at this site, enabling the king to construct the massive Ruwanwelisaya stupa in Anuradhapura.
