Salonga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the largest tropical rainforest reserve in Africa, covering approximately 36,000 square kilometers. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity and crucial role in conservation. The park is home to numerous endangered species, including the bonobo, African forest elephant, and the Congo peafowl. Salonga's dense jungles and river systems create a complex ecosystem that supports a wide array of flora and fauna. Despite its ecological significance, the park faces significant threats from poaching, illegal logging, and human encroachment.
