Santa Cruz de Mompox, often simply known as Mompox, is a historic town located in the BolĂ­var Department of Colombia. Founded in 1537, it is nestled along the banks of the Magdalena River. Mompox is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and rich cultural heritage. It played a significant role during Colombia's struggle for independence and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is also famous for its traditional jewelry-making, particularly in the creation of intricate filigree pieces.
