Santa María Basilica of Elche is a stunning example of Baroque architecture located in Elche, Spain. This basilica stands on the site of a former mosque, reflecting its historical layers of cultural significance. It was constructed between the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring an impressive blue dome and an ornate façade adorned with intricate sculptures and reliefs. Inside, the basilica houses beautiful chapels, a grand altar, and remarkable frescoes. It is also known for hosting the annual Mystery Play of Elche, a UNESCO-recognized cultural event that dramatizes the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
