Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey

Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey is a Benedictine monastery located on the Montserrat mountain in Catalonia, Spain, near Barcelona. Established in the 11th century, it is renowned for its stunning natural surroundings and its cultural and religious significance. The abbey is home to the famous Black Madonna statue, known as La Moreneta, which attracts numerous pilgrims and tourists each year. The site also includes a basilica, a museum with a vast collection of religious and artistic artifacts, and a boys' choir, known as L'Escolania de Montserrat, one of the oldest in Europe.
