Sarmizegetusa Regia, located near the town of Deva in Romania, was the capital and the most important military, religious, and political center of the Dacians before the Roman conquest. It is situated in the Orăștie Mountains and served as a stronghold due to its strategic position. The site is composed of a fortress, a sacred area with several temples, and a civilian settlement.
