Scandola Nature Reserve, located on the west coast of Corsica, France, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning natural beauty and biodiversity. Established in 1975, the reserve encompasses both marine and terrestrial environments, covering approximately 19.19 square kilometers. Its dramatic landscapes feature rugged cliffs, volcanic rock formations, and crystal-clear waters, making it a haven for a wide variety of plant and animal species. The marine portion of the reserve is particularly famous for its rich underwater life, including numerous species of fish, coral, and other marine organisms. The terrestrial areas are home to unique flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to Corsica. Due to its ecological significance, access to the reserve is carefully regulated to minimize human impact, with certain areas only accessible by boat and strict guidelines in place to protect its delicate ecosystems.
