Seattle Central Library, located in downtown Seattle, Washington, is an iconic architectural landmark designed by the renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas in collaboration with Joshua Prince-Ramus. The 11-story glass and steel structure, which opened in 2004, is celebrated for its innovative and modern design, featuring a unique blend of angular shapes and open, airy spaces. The library spans 362,987 square feet and houses over 1.45 million books and materials. It includes various specialized sections, such as the expansive "Books Spiral," a continuous series of shelves that allow for seamless browsing across four floors.
