Sigiriya, often referred to as the Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress located in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka. Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its unique blend of natural and human-made features. The site includes the remnants of a palace, gardens, and reservoirs built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. Visitors are captivated by the frescoes of celestial maidens, the Mirror Wall adorned with ancient graffiti, and the intricate water gardens.
