The Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a neoclassical structure located at the heart of the city in Monument Circle. Standing at 284.5 feet, it was dedicated in 1902 to honor the Indiana soldiers who served in the American Civil War, as well as those who participated in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, and the Spanish-American War. Designed by German architect Bruno Schmitz, the monument features elaborate sculptures and a basement museum.
