Constructed in 1896 to commemorate Ethiopia's victory over Italy at the Battle of Adwa, the cathedral was designed by Greek architect Sebastiano Castagna and features a distinctive octagonal shape. The cathedral also houses a museum that contains ecclesiastical artifacts, religious manuscripts, and historical items related to Ethiopian monarchs.
