St. Michael's Church, known locally as Michel, is one of Hamburg's most iconic landmarks. This Baroque-style Protestant church is distinguished by its prominent copper-covered spire, which soars to a height of 132 meters, making it a significant feature of the city's skyline. The church, originally built between 1647 and 1669, has undergone multiple reconstructions due to fire damage and bombings during World War II. Inside, visitors can admire its grand nave, which can accommodate up to 2,500 people, and its impressive organ. St. Michael's also offers panoramic views of Hamburg from its tower, accessible via stairs or an elevator.
