Sulphur Mountain is a prominent peak located in the Canadian Rockies, near the town of Banff in Alberta, Canada. It stands at an elevation of 2,451 meters (8,041 feet) and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The mountain is named for the hot springs found on its lower slopes, which have been a popular attraction since the early 20th century. One of the most popular ways to experience Sulphur Mountain is via the Banff Gondola, which takes visitors to the summit in a scenic eight-minute ride. At the top, there are boardwalks and observation decks where visitors can enjoy the stunning vistas. For those who prefer a more active approach, there is also a well-maintained hiking trail that leads from the base to the summit, offering a rewarding trek through beautiful alpine scenery. Sulphur Mountain is also home to the historic Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station, a National Historic Site of Canada, which was established in the 1950s to study cosmic rays.
