Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city in Nepal. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist stupas in the country, dating back to approximately the 5th century. The complex consists of a massive white dome with a gilded spire adorned with the eyes of Buddha, symbolizing wisdom and compassion.
