Tichit is a historic town located in the Tagant region of central Mauritania. Known for its ancient architecture and rich cultural heritage, Tichit is recognized as one of the four ancient Ksour (fortified villages) in the area, alongside Ouadane, Chinguetti, and Oualata. The town features traditional stone houses and intricate geometric designs, which reflect the craftsmanship of the early inhabitants. Tichit has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its historical significance and well-preserved examples of Saharan architecture.
