The West Virginia State Capitol, located in Charleston, West Virginia, is an architectural marvel and the seat of government for the state. Designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, the building was completed in 1932 after a nine-year construction period. The centerpiece of the Capitol is its magnificent gold-leafed dome, which rises 292 feet above the banks of the Kanawha River, making it one of the tallest state capitol domes in the United States. The interior is equally impressive, featuring Italian marble, intricate murals, and an array of historical artifacts.
