Wieskirche, or the Pilgrimage Church of Wies, is a stunning example of Rococo architecture located in Steingaden, Bavaria, Germany. Built between 1745 and 1754 by the renowned architect Dominikus Zimmermann, the church was designed to house a miraculous statue of the Scourged Savior, which is said to have shed tears in 1738. The interior of Wieskirche is richly adorned with intricate stuccowork, frescoes, and elaborate altarpieces, making it a masterpiece of artistic and religious significance. In 1983, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its outstanding universal value and its embodiment of Bavarian Rococo art and architecture.
