Wolf's Lair, or "Wolfsschanze" in German, was Adolf Hitler's primary military headquarters on the Eastern Front during World War II. Located in the Masurian woods near the village of Gierłoż in Poland, it served as one of the most important command centers for the Nazi war effort from 1941 until 1944. The complex was heavily fortified and included numerous bunkers, barracks, and other facilities spread over several square kilometers. It is infamously known as the site of the failed assassination attempt on Hitler by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg on July 20, 1944.
