The Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, commemorates the achievements of Orville and Wilbur Wright, who successfully conducted the first controlled, powered airplane flights on December 17, 1903. The site features a 60-foot granite monument atop Big Kill Devil Hill, where the brothers conducted many of their glider tests. Visitors can explore a visitor center with exhibits on the Wright brothers' experiments, a replica of their 1903 Flyer, and the reconstructed 1903 camp buildings.
