The Monastery of Saint Moses the Abyssinian, also known as Deir Mar Musa al-Habashi, is a historic monastic community located near the town of Al-Nabek in Syria. Founded in the 6th century, the monastery is dedicated to Saint Moses, an Abyssinian monk who lived as a hermit in the region. It is renowned for its striking frescoes, which date back to the 11th and 12th centuries and depict various religious scenes, including Christ Pantocrator and the Virgin Mary. The monastery fell into disuse but was revived in the 1980s by an Italian Jesuit priest, Father Paolo Dall'Oglio, who established an interfaith community aimed at fostering dialogue between Christians and Muslims.
