Summer (June to August):

Be prepared for long daylight hours, especially in northern Alaska, where the Midnight Sun phenomenon occurs.

Late Spring (May):

• Late spring is a transitional period in Alaska, with milder weather emerging after the winter season. May is a good time for lower tourist crowds, lower prices, and the possibility of seeing bears and other wildlife coming out of hibernation. However, some activities and accommodations may not be fully operational until June.

Fall (September):

• Fall in Alaska offers beautiful landscapes as the foliage turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. The weather is cooler, with daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit (10-20°C). It's an excellent time for hiking, fishing, and photography. Additionally, the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) become visible in the darker skies, especially in the northern parts of the state.

Winter (October to April):

• Winter in Alaska is ideal for those interested in winter sports and witnessing the Northern Lights. Popular activities include dog sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. However, temperatures can be extremely cold, especially in interior and northern Alaska, so be prepared for sub-zero temperatures. The limited daylight hours make it challenging for outdoor activities during the peak of winter.

Note on Wildlife Viewing:

• If you're particularly interested in wildlife viewing, the best time can vary depending on the species you want to see. Late spring and early summer are good for birdwatching and bear viewing, while fall is prime time for watching salmon spawn in the rivers, attracting bears and eagles.

Cruise Season (May to September):

• If you plan to take an Alaskan cruise, the cruise season typically runs from May to September. This is a popular way to see the stunning coastal landscapes and glaciers.
