El Molino Viejo, also known as The Old Mill, is a historic grist mill located in San Marino, California, near Los Angeles. Built in 1816 as part of the San Gabriel Mission, it is the oldest commercial building in Southern California. Constructed under the direction of Father José María de Zalvidea, the mill was designed to grind grain into flour using a water-powered system. Its original purpose was to serve the mission and its surrounding community.
