The Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker, Netherlands, is a historic and operational model of the solar system, built by Eise Eisinga between 1774 and 1781. It is the oldest working planetarium in the world, meticulously constructed in the living room of Eisinga’s home. This extraordinary mechanical model accurately depicts the motions of the planets around the sun and is driven by a pendulum clock with a nine-meter-long pendulum.
